Scholarships Awarded through the OSA
The following list describes many of the scholarships awarded through the Online Scholarship Application (OSA). For directions on how to complete the OSA click here. The number and amount of awards vary based on the funds available each year. This list does not include scholarships awarded by IU Foundation.
Alumni (IU South Bend) Scholarships
Business Majors
The School of Business and Economics offers a variety of scholarship opportunities through the OSA! In addition, the following scholarship is also awarded to business students completing the OSA.
James F. and Sharon K. Van De Veire Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to full- or half-time undergraduate students who are sophomores or above and who have obtained a 3.0+ GPA and enrolled in the School of Business and Economics, or pursuing a B.S. in Public Affairs, Criminal Justice, or Health Services Management. Students must be employed. Students working 35 hours or more must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours to apply. Students working 20-34 hours per week must be enrolled in at least 9 credit hours to apply. Proof of employment and number of hours per week may be requested.
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences offers a variety of scholarship opportunities though the OSA! We also encourage all of our CLAS Majors to apply for the Online Scholarship Application by the March 1st deadline.
Criminal Justice
The Department of Criminal Justice offers a variety of scholarship opportunities through the OSA!
Education Majors
The School of Education offers a variety of scholarship opportunities through the OSA! In addition, the following scholarship is awarded to an education student completing the OSA.
Richard D. Watson Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled full and part-time in the school of Education or within the Public and Environmental Affairs curriculum. Academic merit as expressed by a 3.0+ GPA is required. Preference is given to minority students and veterans.
IU South Bend Underrepresented Teacher Scholarship
This scholarship will be given to those students who have earned a 2.5+ high school GPA, demonstrate professed commitment to teaching in public schools in St. Joseph or Elkhart County areas, and demonstrate a favorable disposition toward teaching through prior activities as attested to by their teachers and community leaders. Preference will be given to African American, Hispanic, or Native American Students who are male. Scholarship applicants must be accepted to the IU South Bend School of Education. You will be required to provide two (2) letters of recommendation: one from a high school counselor and one from a teacher or community leader. A resume of activities/community service will also be required.
Minority Scholarships
Clark Equipment Minority Scholarship
This scholarship provides financial support for current and entering IU South Bend undergraduate or graduate students who, without the aid of this scholarship, would be unable to obtain a higher education. Preference will be given to qualified minority students enrolled full time (12 credits per semester).
Opportunity Scholarship
This scholarship provides financial support for undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled in at least half time who, without the aid of this scholarship, are unable to attend IU South Bend. Preference is given to qualified minority students; African American first, and Hispanic second. Strong preference for students enrolled full time.
General Scholarships
Leonard Blair
This scholarship is awarded to outstanding undergraduate or graduate students demonstrating need.
William L. Bryan Scholarship
This scholarship provides a current or entering undergraduate student enrolled at IU South Bend with financial assistance in pursuing or completing a degree. The student must show scholastic ability, character, leadership, and the promise of future success. Preference is given to students with a 3.3+ cumulative GPA.
Josephine A. Byron Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship provides a current or entering undergraduate student enrolled at IU South Bend with financial assistance in pursuing or completing a degree
William W. and Anna Jean Cushwa Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student that demonstrates need and possess a 2.5+ cumulative GPA.
Arthur J. and Patricia G. Decio Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to outstanding undergraduate or graduate students.
Zalman and Virginia Dekelboum Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to outstanding undergraduate or graduate students. Preference will be given to students that demonstrate need.
Donna B. Harlan Scholarship
This undergraduate scholarship provides support for residents of St. Joseph County or adjacent Indiana counties, pursuing a bachelor's degree on a full- or part-time basis. Students must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA. Preference is given to working mothers employed outside the home who have sole or shared parental responsibility for minor children, and non-traditional students who are working towards completion or are returning to complete their undergraduate degree. Awards are made for one year. Recipients must reapply each year and continue to file their needs analysis form or FAFSA. Renewal of award requires a cumulative GPA of 2.5 and attendance in at least two of the four academic terms per year.
Cressy T. Havens
This scholarship is awarded to outstanding undergraduate or graduate students.
R.F. Hawkins Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to outstanding undergraduate or graduate students attending either part- or full- time. Financial need and academic merit may be given preference in awarding this scholarship.
IU Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship is for undergraduate students and gives preference to applicants with at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA.
Charles and Gloria Jacot
This scholarship is awarded to outstanding undergraduate or graduate student that demonstrate need.
Charles H. Malott Scholarship
Each award is at least $400 to financially needy and studious persons who are working toward an undergraduate degree.
Jack and Carol McGann Scholarship
This scholarship award is made possible by the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County. The award is intended to provide scholarships to low-income women and minority students from St. Joseph County, Indiana. Students must complete the FAFSA and have a minimum 2.5 GPA to be considered. The scholarship may be renewed.
Marilyn S. Morrison Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to outstanding undergraduate or graduate student.
Pfeiffer, Morgan, and Stesiak Scholarship
This scholarship supports undergraduate scholarship and the necessary expenses required to attend IU South Bend. Graduates from high schools in Elkhart, La Porte, Marshall, St. Joseph, and Starke counties in Indiana as well as Berrien, Cass, and St. Joseph counties in Michigan are eligible to apply.
Christine Pochert Ringle and Jerry Ringle Scholarship
This scholarship provides financial support to full- and half-time incoming freshmen students who are first-generation college students, either traditional or nontraditional, who graduated from Plymouth High School with a Core 40 diploma. Requires a 2.0+ cumulative GPA.
Woodrow W. and DeVota V. Schramm Scholarship
LaVille High School graduates and Penn High School (Madison Township residents only) graduates may apply for this scholarship for use at IU South Bend. This scholarship is based on financial need, academic merit, and personal achievements. It is renewable each year assuming continuing financial need and good academic standing.
South Bend Area Chapter of the Links Scholarship
This scholarship is made possible by the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County. Awards will be given to African-American females with a minimum gpa of 2.5. Students must complete the FAFSA to be considered. This scholarship is renewable.
Skyline Corporation Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to outstanding undergraduate or graduate students.
J. & F.M. Swain Scholarship
This scholarship is for Indiana high school graduates who show promise and leadership. It is based on merit and need.
Ruth Josephine Wells Scholarship
This scholarship is for undergraduate students who are formally enrolled at IU South Bend. Preference is given to students with a 3.0+ GPA, but not required.
Dot and Dar Wiekamp Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to outstanding undergraduate or graduate students. Preference is given to students with high academic merit.
Robert J. Wolf Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to outstanding undergraduate or graduate students.
