Satisfactory Academic Progress

Satisfactory Academic Progress

Students receiving aid have their Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) reviewed at least once per year. Students who do not meet the minimum standards are not eligible for financial aid.

SAP standards include three separate measures. Student must meet all three measures to pass SAP:

Qualitative
Undergraduate students must achieve a 2.0 GPA or their program minimum. Graduate students must achieve a 3.0 GPA.

Quantitative
Students must successfully complete at least 67% of all classes attempted.

Pace
Studies must be concluded by 150% of their published program length.

Appeals
In general, students should have a minimum 1.50 cumulative GPA and at least a 50% completion rate to file an appeal, in order to show that the student is capable of academic progress.  Typically SAP appeals are accepted for the Fall and Spring terms only.  Summer appeals will be considered on a case by case basis for unique situations such as:

  • Summer is the final term
  • Courses are offered only in the summer
  • Summer courses are required in order to complete the degree in the upcoming Fall

See SAP Appeal Policy for additional criteria required to file an appeal.

SAP Appeal Deadlines*:

  • Must be submitted electronically, no later than two weeks after the start of the semester
